Re: For the addle-brained amongst us |
"God, I miss tripping sometimes!"
I've said the same a number of times over the years, but at the end of the day, i just leave it where i left it. Did you ever listen to 'The Acid Song' by Loudon Wainwright? Off his More Love Songs album i think. He sings about doing acid again when he's like 40 years old. Pretty hilarious (as much of his stuff is).

Re: For the addle-brained amongst us |
Can't say as I ever caught that Wainwright track. Sorry.
About a year ago I hosted a mushroom party, the first psychedelics I'd indulged in since '90. My college-age neice & 2 of her running mates decided it was time I ended my abstinence. I'd been married 3 weeks & my wife was out of state (an opportunity missed is an opportunity...) :)
At 40, I was old enough to have been the father of everyone in that room. Helpful hint: shrooms dipped in Maine blueberry honey! Oh, yes!! I managed one of my proudest "turn-on's" that night too. This kid, 20, was ambivalent to the Dead, having been dragged to so many shows as a child by his parents. He spent a good chunk of the evening on my living room floor, digging on the ceiling fan and the 12/31/90 Marsalis show. I see him come shuffling out @ about 1:00am saying, "More. I want more of that." I loaded 10/20/74 and chuckled all the way to the light show downstairs...
4 of us in there and I was still the last one standing, cleaning up the evidence as the sun came up, 6/17/75 playing (I was in a hiatus mood that night I guess...). A near-perfect dawn.
And a lesson to the young'n's: Don't fuck with grampa!
